BLK Espresso, a cool little coffee shop, opened recently in the city on the lower level of Carillon Arcade. We were drawn to it by the striking hand drawn mural and cool moving wall art – that tells the story of how coffee is made. 
The friendly guys behind the counter – Andrew and Luke – have many years in hospitality between them. Chef ordered his usual – a double shot flat white and I had a chai latte. The coffee was excellent – a great way to start a morning of shopping. The roast the boys at BLK use is from Rubra Coffee. It’s specifically made for BLK and is a blend of coffee beans sourced from Brazil, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala.
Food is available too at BLK Espresso – whether you fancy something for breakfast, lunch or a sweet treat. The bacon and egg sarnie on brioche looked delicious, as did the peanut butter choc brownies! 
Chef enjoyed his coffee, so ordered another to take away.
BLK is right next to the back entrance of Topshop, near to the Carillon food court. Topshop was my favourite place to shop when I was in my early twenties and living in the UK. It opened to a lot of fanfare last week on the Murray Street Mall and the new Zara, another favourite of mine – is right next door. 
BLK is perfect for a pre shopping caffeine hit! I hear the iced latte is great too, so I’ll be sure to try that next time!
